So A. J. McKay told me to make a blog. And then she got 19 other people to agree with her. So I finally consented to do so.
Well, since it's conference, I'll make this first post about conference.
First and dominent thought: I'M GOING TO BE ON MY MISSION IN A YEAR!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!! Okay, freaking out over...
But seriously. All of sudden, my mission is just around the corner. Literally. I can turn my papers in this febuary. Febuary 20th is the exact date, I think. As I have realized this, I have realized two main things:
1. I need to prepare, because I assure all of you, I'm not ready as things stand right now. So my main focus in going to be: learning Preach my Gospel inside and out, learning to work and sacrifice all of my personal needs and wants for the Lord, and learning to love with everything that I posses.
2. I am going to be away from all the people I love so dearly for two years... two years!! So I have resolved to cherish this last year that I have with those I love, and to show them that love as much as I can. So if any of you feel an upswing in the love I show you, you now know why.
Second thought: Priesthood session was amazing. I learned a lot about love and it's connection to missionary work. To truely change someone, you have to believe that they can change, and they have to feel that. This belief comes, in my opinion, from showing them you love them with all your heart.
Third thought: Conference has got me thinking about marriage (no, not my marriage, but marriage is general) and I'm seeing quite clearly just how much Satan is trying to destroy it. So, I'm going to try to find a way to fight back... we'll see how that goes over.

Yay! I am very happy. That was an awesome post and I look forward to reading more of them. :)
ReplyDeleteHuzzah!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that you'll get to go on your mission sooner! Congratulations! You'll do great :)
ReplyDeleteI'll miss you though :(
Have fun for me ;)
Oh, Preston. We guessed you might be one of the first to take advantage of this 18-years-old plan. I'm so happy for you! Preston, guess what - I am, too. I'm going to do it. I'm going to be a sister missionary at nineteen. Do you have any lucrative jobs lying around that I can leap into? :)
ReplyDeletePreston, I am SO proud of you. Your honesty in realizing that you can actively prepare for your mission now is inspiring to me... {Yes, indeed, I am planning on going at 19.}
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you read this article? Because it is really fantastic. https://www.lds.org/youth/article/dear-future-missionaries?lang=eng
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you started a blog, Preston. It's great for your peers, and youth younger than you who look up to you, to read about some of your thoughts. Thanks for being a great example! I'm excited for your future!
ReplyDeleteAhhh... I am so glad that you finally made a blog, Preston! I am excited to see the epiphanies you collect over this next year. These were amazing! May God bless you in your desires to do what's right.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was really fantastic, Preston :)
ReplyDeleteThat was some announcement!! I'm way excited to get out into the mission field. You'll have to post some tips on how to study more effectively... and stuff.
I'm way excited to see more posts in the future!
!!! Yes!! When you figure out exactly how you want to fight back for marriage, let me know, I will join with you full force!
ReplyDeleteWow, so exciting! I'm going to have a lot of people to write these next two years :) Preston, not to deter you from still preparing full force, but if there ever was a young man who was prepared to serve the Lord selflessly, and to love Him completely, and to bring the gospel to thousands of His children, it would be you.
As I think of all my friends - and possibly me - leaving on missions in the very near future, I can't help but picture an army of God's valiant warriors Fighting Satan on every front, and literally saving souls and preparing the way for Christ to come.
